The agricultural and social development of the Alentejo region, in Portugal was the motto that led Dom Duarte de Bragança to visit recently the facilities of Vitacress, an agricultural company headquartered in Boavista dos Pinheiros, in the municipality of Odemira.

The flow of immigrants was discussed, taking into account the economic and social context of Southwest Alentejo, the shortage of labour in the agricultural sector, as well as the need for national authorities to streamline the processes investment viability, otherwise the development of the region will be discouraged.

Also present the Chilean ambassador in Portugal, Pedro Pablo Díaz Herrera, the President of the Chamber of Odemira, José Alberto Guerreiro, the agricultural managers Maria Cortez de Lobão and João Cortez de Lobão, and the University Professor José Maria André.
